From March 3 to 5, the 21st edition of the UK Darts Open is scheduled in the English coastal town of Minehead.
The UK Darts Open is a unique tournament on the PDC calendar.
Not only is this the event with the largest field of participants.
The 'open draw' is also unique to the UK Darts Open. 
After the third round, a new draw follows after each round.

Robert Thornton has also won the second edition of the World Seniors Darts Championship. 'The Thorn' beat Richie Howson in the final.

There was no measure to the Scot throughout the entire tournament.

Thornton only gave up one set on his way to the final.
He dealt successively with Roland Scholten (3-0), Scott Mitchell (3-0), Neil Duff (3-1) and Kevin Painter (3-0).

In the final, the Scottish darts player quickly took control.
He took the first set from Howson (3-1) and then kept his own set 3-0.
Thornton then broke Howson again in the third set (3-2), but then surrendered his own set 3-1.
But it was no longer exciting. Thornton took the fifth set, after which Howson narrowed the gap again by taking the sixth set.
It turned out to be a stay of execution, as with a 73 finish in the fifth leg of set seven, Thornton captured the senior world title at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet.

Danny Noppert was crowned winner of the second Players Championship tournament of 2023 on Sunday evening.
'The Freeze' won in the final against Simon Whitlock, who was in a PDC ranking final for the first time since 2019.

Noppert already won a Players Championship tournament in 2018 and 2019.
In addition, the darts player from Joure also surprisingly captured the title at the UK Open in 2022, his first major win.

Noppert actually never really got into trouble on Sunday.
With victories over Dylan Slevin (6-3), Connor Scutt (6-0), Vladimir Andersen (6-4) and Jamie Hughes (6-3), the Frisian reached the quarter-finals.
He then also dealt with Callan Rydz (6-4) and Brendan Dolan (7-3).

Opponent in the final was therefore Whitlock, who was responsible for the elimination of Dave Chisnall (6-3), Raymond van Barneveld (6-2), Richard Veenstra (6-5) and Luke Humphries (7-4).

Noppert started the match with a 14 darter and then broke Whitlock with an 80 finish.
The UK Open champion was broken back in the fifth leg, but Noppert immediately broke Whitlock again with a 12-darter. A 14-darter then made it 5-2.
Whitlock signed for the 5-3, before Noppert claimed the title with three won legs in a row.

Co Stompé and also Roland Scholten immediately eliminated at the senior World Championships in Purfleet. 'The Tripod' lost 3-0 in sets to Robert Thornton, last year's winner at the World Seniors Darts Championship.

Phil Taylor was close to being eliminated in the first round of the 2023 World Seniors Darts Championship on Friday evening. 'The Power' survived a match dart against Colin McGarry and triumphed 3-2 in sets after extra time.

The first set went 3-0 to the Belgian, but then Van Peer picked up the momentum by winning six of the next seven legs and taking a 2-1 lead. In set four, Baetens took a 2-1 lead, but Van Peer came alongside with an 18-darter and a 12-darter and captured the title at the largest open tournament in the world.

Michael Smith won the world title at the World Darts Championship on Tuesday 3-1-2023 evening and was therefore allowed to collect the corresponding check for £ 500,000.
